Come immaginavo ed avevo preannunciato, il driver dello scanner non è compatibile con windows 7.
Mi ha istallato correttamente il programma di grafica che c'era nel cd, ma per quanto riguarda il driver ed il toolbox non c'è stato verso.
Ho scaricato quella che credevo fosse una versione giusta dal sito di supporto. Effettivamente una volta lanciata l'istallazione col cd, non mi diceva più che non è compatibile.. ma non mi ha mai chiesto di collegare lo scanner ed una volta riavviato il pc non mi appare l'icona del toolbox. Ho provato a collegare lo scanner e tenta di istallarlo da solo ma mi dice che non trova il driver. Tentando manualmente mi da una lista di dispositivi tra cui "dispositivi di asquisizione immagini" che a senso direi potrebbe andar bene.. ma dopo nella successiva lista trovo soltanto xerox ed un'altra marca che sinceramente non ricordo.. ma sicuramente non canon T__T
Suggerimenti?
EDIT: rettifico.. il toolbox c'è ma non mi trova lo scanner

Scusa, non ho capito una cosa... quel link che hai messo dovrebbe essere quello giusto per scaricare il driver che ti serve. Ma ce c'entra il CD? Se il driver lo scarichi dal supporto Canon, a cosa ti serve il CD?. -

Avevo provato ad istallarlo dal file ma non partiva niente...
Mi ha decompresso la cartella durante una serie di avvisi di autenticità e firme... poi una volta lanciato quello che credevo l'istaller non succedeva niente. Così nella mia ignoranza ho rimesso il cd e l'istallazione pareva andare, senza avvisi sull'incompatibilità. Quindi dovrei ritentare col file?
Edit: Ho riprovato...
Decompresso il file, nella cartella trovo un file Readme ed un'applicazione che dall'icona sembrerebbe compressa.
Decomprimendo appaiono altre cartelle, catalogo sicurezza e informazioni di istallazione.. aspè che "stampo" >.<
Se clicco su DELSG mi dice che l'autore non è verificato, che non dispone di una firma digitale etc..
Se clicco sul file compresso si apre il self-extractor e quell'avviso dello stamp. Se seleziono installa il software del driver sparisce l'avviso, sento il pc che lavora qualche istante e si riapre l'avviso.
Ho annullato e s'è aperto questo avviso di risoluzione problemi
Sono sempre più tentata a portare il pc dal tecnico e far fare il lavoro sporco a lui... solo che mi scoccia troppo buttare soldi per niente così T__T

Eh sì, lì ci sono i driver aggiornati, sul CD no.CITAZIONEDecompresso il file, nella cartella trovo un file Readme ed un'applicazione che dall'icona sembrerebbe compressa.
Se hai problemi, prova a leggere cosa dice il Readme... magari ci sono scritte informazioni importanti su come installarlo (magari invece no, comunque prova a dare una lettura).
Fai click col destro sul Setup ed eseguilo come amministratore. Se ti dice che il file non è sicuro e l'autore non è verificato, fregatene!
Viene dal sito Canon ufficiale, non dovrebbe contenere niente di strano. Procedi ed installa comunque, nonostante gli avvisi rossi del terrore 
Poi fammi sapere come è andata... speriamo bene!

Niente da fare.... dopo il secondo avviso non si sente più niente...
Ho provato ad aprire paint (al momento ho solo quello) e non risultano scanner istallati. Dato che col cd mi richiedeva il riavvio ho tentato anche quella ma niente. E' apparsa però un'iconcina nel trybar che cercava di istallare automaticamente lo scanner. Ho provato con la risoluzione dei problemi e mi dice che non è possibile risolvere automaticamente e driver non disponibile per CanoScan.
Posso mettermi a piangere? T___T

1. ScanGear CS 7.0 Features
ScanGear CS 7.0 for Windows (hereafter referred to as "ScanGear CS")
is a 32-bit TWAIN-compliant scanner driver for CanoScan LiDE 20/N670U/
N676U and CanoScan LiDE 30/N1240U scanner.
When this driver is selected from within a TWAIN-compliant
application program, this scanner can be used to scan image data.
2. A General Tip on Usage
o Only run one application at a time that is actively linked to
ScanGear CS. Do not open more than one application that is actively
linked to ScanGear CS.
Also, do not open ScanGear CS more than once to acquire an image in
the same application.
o If you scan a very large image at high resolution, some applications
may determine that there is not enough disk space to scan and save
the image, and will return an error.
o If the image size is large, such as when you scan a large image at a
high resolution, for using some applications, the progress bar may
freeze at 0% due to limitations of the application.
In this case, click the Cancel button on the progress bar, and then
select a smaller area or lower resolution and try scanning again.
o With Windows 2000 or XP, the TWAIN data source may not open
correctly from time to time when the system file is in the NTFS
format.
For security reasons, the TWAIN module cannot be written to the
"winnt" directory. For details, contact your system administrator.
o Always close the ScanGear CS main window before you exit the parent
application program.
o With Windows 2000 or XP, the system administrator is required to
install or uninstall ScanGear CS.
o Certain personal computers (including laptops) may not restart
correctly from standby mode when the scanner is attached. If this
occurs, please reboot the computer.
o The scanner button may not operate after you install the driver. In
this case, restart the system.
o When you preview or scan an image with a relatively uniform
background, the Auto Tone function may change its coloring.
If this occurs, reset the Auto Tone.
o With Windows Me, the scanner may not be detected after the USB cable
has been disconnected and reconnected. If this occurs, please reboot
the computer.
3. Running ScanGear CS with Specific Applications
o Some applications may close ScanGear CS automatically after scanning.
o Some application programs may hide the TWAIN user interface.
In this case, refer to the application programer's manual to find
out the required setting changes to show the TWAIN user interface.
o Images after the first image can not be passed on to the linked
application when the Multi Photo Scan function is used with
Microsoft Word 2000, Excel 2000 or PowerPoint 2000.
4. Notes when using the scanner after switching users in Windows XP
o The scanner may be unable to operate if a large portion of the
system resources, such as the memory, is being used by another user.
In this case, close any programs that are open in the other user
environment before scanning.
